MPAT presentation at Deutsche TV Plattform

The “Deutsche TV Plattform” is a Frankfurt based organization association of various companies, organizations, and institutions concerned with the development of digital media. with more than 50 members from nearly every field of the media supply chain.

It has a working group on Smart Media, which meets regularly and has been covering all topics around Smart TV and HbbTV in Germany.

On the 7th regular meeting of the working group, Annette Wilson from the innovation group of MPAT partner RBB has been presenting “Weiterhin von HbbTV profitieren” (“Continue to profit from HbbTV”), covering, in addition to accessibility issues, MPAT as a tool for the simple creation of HbbTV applications.


Availability of MPAT test accounts

For the MPAT workshop earlier this months, IRT has provided a test instance of MPAT that potential users can use to experience and evaluate the MPAT editor for application creation.

Test accounts on this instance are provide the full MPAT functionality and are suitable for creation of full feature applications. However, they are only configured for small scale playout for device testing and not intended for actual broadcast usage.

Presenting MPAT at Bocconi University

Bocconi University is the best Italian Business School and it’s in the top 10 in Europe.

The MPAT project has been asked by the “Bocconi students for Innovation” association to present its activities, covering the specifics of a technology based EU project and the commercial and technical issues associated with it.

The presentation covered these main points:

  1. Introduction of Horizon 2020 and the structure of the project (roles, responsibilities, milestones)
  2. Commercial aspects and project piloting
  3. Technical point of view of the project
  4. MPAT demonstration and apps

Presenting the project were the two Italian partner companies in MPAT, with Simona Tonoli from Mediaset and Matteo Villa from Fincons.

MPAT Workshop a success

On December 5, 2017, at IRT in Munich,we organized a workshop on the creation of HbbTV-Apps. With its over 20 participants from broadcast and IT domains, the workshop was very well received.

The project partners Fraunhofer FOKUS, Institut für Rundfunktechnik (IRT), Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg (rbb) and Fincons organized an MPAT on December 5, 2017, in Munich.

It offered an introduction to the use cases and possibilities with the toolkit and explained the workflow with the editor. The  participants subsequently created their own HbbTV-App and got a permanent demo account for the editor to allow subsequent work and experimentation after the end of the workshop.



The workshop covered also business and workflow issues involved when using MPAT for the creation of HbbTV applications.
